Requirements

The server runs on ordinary web space. It needs neither shell access nor cron jobs.

Web server Apache that honours .htaccess files (AllowOverride). SmartFleet uses them to block program code and data from being fetched over the network. Without this block the server accepts no backups and no project files. Web space with nginx alone is not enough.
PHP 7.4 or newer
PHP extensions sodium, json, hash, pdo_mysql, mbstring – available at almost every host
Database MySQL or MariaDB; a database of its own or an existing one with a table prefix
HTTPS Mandatory. Setup transmits the database password, and all logins run over it afterwards. Most hosts offer a free certificate (Let’s Encrypt).
Sending mail the host’s sendmail or an SMTP account. Without working mail delivery no account can be created.
Access to the web space FTP or the host’s file manager

Setup checks these points itself and tells you what is missing. Automatic updates need two more things, see Updates.

Gateway a DIN-rail SmartFleet Gateway (preferred) or a LoxBerry with the plugin, on the same network as the Miniservers; see Gateway or LoxBerry
Miniserver address, user and password, entered on the gateway’s page or in the LoxBerry configuration
Internet outgoing HTTPS connection to your server. Nothing has to be opened inbound.

SmartFleet Gateway: 24 V from the control cabinet and 2 modules on the DIN rail, connected via LAN or Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz). For flashing the firmware the first time, a computer with USB-C and Chrome or Edge, once; see Setting up the gateway.

LoxBerry: version 4.0.0.15 or newer. During installation the plugin installs a Debian package for password checking; the LoxBerry therefore needs an internet connection while installing.

  • an up-to-date browser
  • an email address you read daily: alarms go there, and in an emergency the emergency access
  • a license: either the free tier Free Community Edition, which setup requests by itself, or a deployment code (PM1-…) for Silver, Gold or Enterprise
