Functions
The plugin works on a one-minute cycle through the LoxBerry’s scheduler. There is no service of its own that would need starting or stopping. What it does and how often is set by you as the partner on the server; the plugin picks up changes at its next contact.
Heartbeat and measurements
Section titled “Heartbeat and measurements”Every minute the plugin reports to the server and fetches new jobs and settings. State and system values of the Miniservers go to the server at the configured collection interval, plus metrics of the LoxBerry itself. In the partner UI they appear on the device page and in the system status. On the Status page, Last contact shows when the last report went through.
Backups
Section titled “Backups”The plugin backs up the Miniservers that are switched on, on the site’s schedule or right away with Create backup in the partner UI. It reads, packs and encrypts the Miniserver files and sends them to the server in one pass; it stores nothing on the SD card for this, and there is no folder for backups. Every backup is encrypted with the key of the site’s password vault; without a vault no backup is made. If the connection drops during a backup, that backup is lost; the next attempt follows at the next scheduled time. Schedule, scope and download: Miniserver backups.
The Status page shows under Last backup when the last backup ran; after a restart of the LoxBerry it shows none since the last restart until the next backup.
Self-backup
Section titled “Self-backup”Besides the Miniservers, the plugin backs up its own configuration: site, certificate, settings and remote maintenance password. In the partner UI it is listed among the backups under the gateway “LoxBerry”. After replacing the SD card it is restored in the plugin under Settings → Restore, see Interface. Like the Miniserver backups it is encrypted with the password vault.
Project file
Section titled “Project file”After every program update of a Miniserver, the plugin fetches the current project file and uploads it to the server. The Project tab and the selection for charts and system values are built from it. See Project files.
Charts and system values
Section titled “Charts and system values”The plugin regularly reads the values selected in the partner UI from the Miniserver and sends them to the server, see Charts and System values.
Password vault
Section titled “Password vault”If the customer agrees in the plugin, the LoxBerry transfers the Miniserver passwords and the remote maintenance password, encrypted, to the site’s password vault, and again after every change. See Transfer from the LoxBerry.
Remote maintenance
Section titled “Remote maintenance”On a job from the partner UI, the LoxBerry itself sets up an encrypted outbound connection and gets a random HTTPS address. Through it the LoxBerry’s interface is reachable, and through the LoxBerry the Miniservers in the customer’s network. This only works with the remote maintenance password and only as long as the customer has not blocked remote maintenance. See Starting remote maintenance.
Several gateways at a site
Section titled “Several gateways at a site”If a Miniserver is handled by another gateway of the site, it is switched off in the plugin under Miniservers. If a Miniserver reports through two gateways at once, the server takes the data only from the first one. See Another gateway at a site.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”New plugin versions are installed by the LoxBerry’s plugin management, by hand or from the partner UI with Update now. With Device updates in the server updates, the LoxBerry installs a new version during the daily run of its plugin management; the plugin sets the matching level itself. See Installing the plugin and Server updates.
